Playing princess (#RepealThe8th)

I left the house for some fresh air, and me and Bicky played around Roche Castle. It's nearly on our doorstep and we had never visited the ruin -slopes and hills are my enemy and I was always put off, however the climb really wasn't half as bad as I thought it was/ as it looks from the road. Encouraged by Bicky, we took the short drive so I could play princess for a while. Wearing my new Repeal The 8th sweater (obligatory, cool photos of which are also a must). Very tired afterwards, but it was worth it... I'll just have to be Sleeping Beauty.

The March into summer

It's the end of March. Not long until summer now, not long until the end of college, not long until little Kitty rests her weary bones (and muscles, and nervous system, har!).

Summer will see me take the time out I need to concentrate on health, maybe push for surgery, and see where I can go from there...

Marching on; one paw in front of the other!

...The solar eclipse of 2015 was an amazing experience for me. I remember the one that occurred when I was younger -I still have the newspaper clippings. Wish I had better photos, but it's the experience

Life is peachy

I went and dids my hair!

...I wanted a light colour for ages but wanted to wait until some grew back after the chemo. I would have loved mint, but I neither have the patience or the willing to bleach my hair that much -Such a colour would require a hella lot of effort and toners. Most platinum blondes will tell you the nuisance of trying to only bleach roots while not over bleaching the already bleached rest of your hair! (well, home dyers like myself anywho!). It's time consuming and awkward to do yourself.

So the only pastel-ish option, if I didn't want to use pure bleach and toners (I.E. products to rid the yellow/ orange tinge of blonde) is peach/ pinky/ orangey... I'm guna say it's variation on peach. To start I used a normal blonde box dye, Nice 'n' Easy brand I think it was, then followed it up by mixing Stargazer's dawn and baby pink.

Couple tips when using Stargazer and

A review of Sziget 2014, by Rainy Day Penguin

On August 11th 2014, myself, Bicky and Rainy Day Penguin set off on our second trip to the week-long Sziget festival in Budapest, Hungary (we had previously visited in 2010).

Here's Rainy Day Penguin's view on our week away...

Arriving at around 11pm Monday night (we would have like to have gotten there earlier but the flights from Ireland this year were insane -no direct flights at all!) we could immediately tell that the festival had indeed sold out -something they had mentioned on their Facebook page, and to my knowledge this is the first year ever that the massive island had reached full capacity.

For those of who may have only been to Irish festivals, let me point out a couple of differences here, apart from the festival lasting a whole week- 1.) You can basically camp where you like on the Sziget island. There are, kind of, designated camping areas, but that are simply defined by a) where ever anyone else sets up camp, and more continue to camp around them, and b) Tape bordering off pathways. 2.) The place is giant. Forget Electric Picnic -This place is like a town. So with that in mind, and the place being packed to the brim, finding a camp spot took FOREVER. Made feel even longer for my humans as they were carrying large bags.

Eventually we found a suitable camp spot, set up camp and hoped our 'neighbours' wouldn't mind the intrusion. At this stage, after travelling all day and sore from walking across the island, my humans were of course in dire need of some alcohol. Approaching the first bar they seen, they were informed that no money is accepted anywhere on Island, and that you must purchase a Sziget card. These cards are available at kiosks all over the island and work like a visa card -every time you need a top-up or want to check your balance, you can go to any of these kiosks. Now, my humans had read about these on the Sziget Facebook page, but had no idea they were compulsory -They hadn't even existed at the 2010 festival. Slightly annoyed, they went to get a card and eventually got their first drink, and I had a tiny tipple myself. All and all though, we realise the cards are a great idea -No need to carry around money, which of course is a benefit.

The next day, with our cards topped up, my humans then needed to find the locker areas to store their wallets/ money and valuables. They had booked one on-line prior to arriving for around €20 for the whole week. A great idea of course -that is, if you

100 days of happiness... Summer's end

To round up my 100 days of happiness (well, kind of 100 days... I stopped counting... Although I do like these wee round-ups, rather than one a day) here's some recent/ recent-ish photos of the people and things that made me happy the last while, as Summer came to an end, and I finally got to go back to college, and back to my life...

100 days of happiness... Day 22: Taste of Dublin

On Friday I went to 'Taste of Dublin', to watch Frankie Says (an 80's/90's tribute band that Bicky plays with). My very first time at it, and have to say, was brilliant!

Even managed to find a couple of vegan dishes (very few like, but still, a couple is more than I expected). Would have been great to have seen one of Dublin's vegan restaurants at it, but alas, couldn't find any.

Apart from the main act of Frankie Says, a James Brown look-a-like sang, as well as a talented young musician called Scoops -Sorry didn't get any good photos of him playing, but

100 days of happiness... Day 21: A bita more nature

As a follow-up from yesterdays 100 days of happiness, few more nature photos -this time from helping around a garden... well, a bit of varnishing a fence and replanting daffodils to be exact... then I lazed around a bit and took some pics, as you can see!
